After the ‘African Lion’ in a Chinese zoo turned out to be a dog, the People’s Park of Luohe Zoo has announced that they weren’t trying to fool the public, they’re just really big fans of Snoop Dogg, who recently became Snoop Lion.
“Yo, we never meant to fool anyone,” said Liu Suya, chief of the park’s animal department. “It was only ever meant to be a dedication of our love for Snoop Lion, dawg, fo’ shiz.” He then burst into quite a good freestyle rap about proper zoo maintenance.
The ‘lion’ was not the only mislabelled animal in the zoo, but Suya insists all the incorrectly titled exhibits are simply dedications to Snoop. “The dog in the wolf exhibit represents an alternate timeline, where wolves never evolved into dogs, and so instead of Snoop Dogg, there was only ever Snoop Wolff. And the white fox in the leopard’s den is from a dream I had in which Snoop Dogg became Snoop Fox, and then became Snoop Leopard. The coypu rodents in the snake cage are just food for when we can afford a snake.”
